One member of the men's program and five women named NAIA Scholar-Athletes
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Five members of the Lindsey Wilson track & field teams are NAIA Scholar-Athletes, national office officials announced on Friday. On the men's side, 243 total student-athletes were honored, while 362 women made the list.
Charlie Mullennex is a scholar-athlete for the Blue Raider men and Alicia Mattingly, Ruth Olson, Maria Sanchez and Ida Gregersen were honored on the women's side.
In order to be nominated for the award by the institution's head coach, scholar-athletes must maintain a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved a junior academic status or higher to qualify.
Mullennex is the fifth scholar-athlete in program history for the men, while Mattingly and Olson are making their second stop of the women's scholar-athlete list. Mullennex, Sanchez and Gregersen are first-time honorees.
Lindsey Wilson is currently competing at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Marion, Ind. Race walkers Ricardo and Roberto Vergara and Reini Brickson, along with long-distance runner Sharon Ronoh are all in action on Friday.
