Blue Raiders open postseason play this weekend
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the fifth straight week, the Lindsey Wilson College men's tennis team resides in the No. 12 spot in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top-25 Poll, released on Tuesday by NAIA officials.
The Blue Raiders picked up more voting points this week -- 205 voting points from the national raters -- but held steady at 12th. After opening No. 13 in the preseason poll, the Blue Raiders have not moved off the No. 12 spot the rest of the season.
Lindsey Wilson is 16-5 overall heading into this weekend's Mid-South Conference Tournament in Lexington, Ky. The Blue Raiders are riding a three-match winning streak following their two wins last week.
Lindsey Wilson is the top ranked MSC team in the national poll.
Campbellsville (Ky.) University is No. 18 while University of Pikeville (Ky.) is among the ranks of those just outside the Top-25 but receiving votes.
Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University stays atop the national poll with 312 voting points and all 12 first-place votes. Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University is No. 2 in the poll with 302 voting points followed by No. 3-ranked Oklahoma Christian University with 291 voting points.
The poll is voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each conference, the independents and unaffiliated groups. The next poll is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, May 1.
Lindsey Wilson -- who finished the Mid-South Conference with a 6-0 regular season record -- earned the opening round bye as the tournament's top seed in next weekend's conference tournament in Lexington, Ky.
The Blue Raiders face the winner of fourth-seeded University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and fifth-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) College on Friday, April 20 at the University of Kentucky Boone Tennis Center.
