Taylor Ladd paces cycling with second-place finishes in the men's B road race and criterium
MCARTHUR, Ohio -- Competing against 22 programs in the field, the Lindsey Wilson cycling team finished second at the Ohio State Road Race and Team-Time Trials on March 24-25 at the Lake Hope State Park in McArthur, Ohio.
Nicholas Grigsby paced the Blue Raiders in the men's A race, tallying 63 points with his top-three mark. He was backed up by David Novak in eighth place (35 points) and Justin Lowe crossing 20th (1).
Three women's riders finished in the top 10 in their A race with Yesica Mendoza leading the way in sixth (45). Hannah Hayduk wasn't far behind in eighth (35) and Mikayla Lyman posted a ninth-place finish (30).
Taylor Ladd impressed in the men's B portion, finishing second to earn 41 team points. Zachary Abulencia crossed in 12th (5) and Redd Bagley was 13th (3).
In the criterium portion of the race, it was Johnathan Freter posting the best finish in the men's A, crossing in eighth to earn 31 points. Matthew Dooley was next in line in ninth place (27).
In the women's A crit it was Brooke Crum with the high mark on the team, finishing fifth (46), while Hayduk finished just outside the top 10 at 11th (19).
Backing up his second-place finish in the road race, Ladd was once again the runner-up in the men's B crit for 34 points. Abulencia tallied a fifth-place finish (20) and Bagley rounded out the group in 11th (7).
The women's B crit saw Tiana Row take second place (34) and Vhasti Schmidt cross in sixth for 17 points. Lacey Maglinger was also in the top 10 in 10th place (9), while Madison Mills earned seven points in 11th.
The event finished with the team-time trials where the Blue Raiders' men's A group took second place in 15 minutes and 12 seconds, while Marian (Ind.) -- which took first place overall -- won with a time of 14:49.
Lindsey Wilson's women's A team finished fourth with a 19:23 showing as Marian's women won in 16:33.
