Team posts multiple top-10 finishes in final indoor event of the regular season
GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Joshua Kles broke a school record in the shot put and another record mark was set in a relay as the Lindsey Wilson College men's track & field team finished eighth out of 18 schools at the DePauw Indoor Classic on Saturday at Hollensteiner Track.
The Blue Raiders finished with 35 team points in the regular-season finale of the indoor season, while Wabash took first place with 146 points, Bellarmine (Ky.) finished second (102) and Taylor (Ind.) rounded out the top three with 81 points.
Kles highlighted the Blue Raiders with a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a school-record throw of 15.07 meters. Kles also placed 13th in the weight throw with a heave of 11.61 meters, while John Updike was fifth in the weight throw (13.56 meters).
Charlie Mullennex finished strong in throwing events as well, placing ninth in the weight throw (12.81 meters) and 10th in the shot put (13.23 meters).
Takudzwa Mhlanga impressed in the long jump, taking off for a 6.17-meter mark for fifth place. Kameron Spivey backed him up in 10th place with a jump of 5.95 meters. Mhlanga was fifth in the high jump as well with a leap of 1.88 meters.
Lindsey Wilson broke a school record in the 4X200 relay, placing third in 1:33.17.
Prior to his jump, Spivey placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.2 seconds, while Erico Smith placed eighth in the 60-meter dash (7.3 seconds). JR Northcutt rounded out the top finished of the day in fourth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:30.07.
