Senior Lucy Ng'ang'a avoids the OCU block for one of her 25 kills on the night.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team dropped a heartbreaking five-game match to visiting Oakland City (Ind.) University on Tuesday night at Biggers Sports Center.

The Blue Raiders fall to 7-11 on the season with the 26-30, 22-30, 30-28, 30-20, 13-15 loss. Oakland City improves to 6-10 with the win.

Lindsey Wilson committed 16 errors in the opening two games of the match and consequently fell behind 2-0 to the Lady Oaks.

The Blue Raiders battled back to take the next two games on the strength of senior middle blocker Lucy Ng’ang’a’s match-high 25 kills. Ng’ang’a also led Lindsey Wilson with a .425 hitting percentage.

Lindsey Wilson grabbed the early lead in the decisive game, but was unable to hold it.

The Lady Oaks committed just one error in the final game and recorded 11 kills en route to the win.

Lindsey Wilson senior outside hitter Roxanne Kirchner joined Ng’ang’a as the only Blue Raiders to record double kills. Kirchner ended with 13 kills in the match.

Sophomore setter Sarah Kline led the Blue Raiders with 29 assists. Fellow sophomore setter Kelley Burke chipped in 20 assists.

Oakland City sophomore outside hitter Brittany Negley led the Lady Oaks with 15 kills. Sophomore outside hitter Emily Prewitt added 10. Junior setter Cortney Paro led her team with 23 assists.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Friday, September 28, as the Blue Raiders travel to Spalding (Ky.) University in Louisville.
