COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team ended their five-match losing streak tonight with a doubleheader sweep of Mid-South Conference foe West Virginia University Tech at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (7-10, 3-2 in the MSC) won the opener 30-11, 30-12, 30-23 and completed the sweep winning the nightcap 30-14, 30-12, 30-19.
The matches marked the first time the Blue Raiders played at Biggers Sports Center since August 25. In the meantime, the Blue Raiders played 14 consecutive matches away from the Sports Center.
Lindsey Wilson senior middle blocker Lucy Ng’ang’a recorded 21 kills in the two matches and hit over .500 in each of the three-game matches to help the Blue Raiders sweep.
Sophomore setter Kelly Burke added 26 and 23 assists in the two matches, while Ng’ang’a led the way with 3-1/2 blocks on the evening.
The Blue Raiders were never seriously threatened by the visiting Golden Bears (0-10, 0-6 in the MSC) who had a combined hitting percentage for the two matches below .100. Lindsey Wilson finished the evening with a .397 hitting percentage.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, September 25, as the Blue Raiders host Oakland City (Ind.) University at Biggers Sports Center.
