MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams earned first-round byes in the NAIA Tennis National Championships and will begin play on Tuesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The Lindsey Wilson women's team received the No. 4 seed and faces unseeded Union (Ky.) College -- who beat Shorter (Ga.) College today 5-4 -- at 1 p.m. CDT on Tuesday.
The Lindsey Wilson men's team received the No. 8 seed and faces unseeded Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University -- who beat University of Sioux Falls (S.D.) 9-0 today -- at 9 a.m. CDT on Tuesday.

The Blue Raider women (17-4) enter the tournament winners of six of their last seven matches. The lone loss came to No. 3 seed Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University in the NAIA Region XI Tournament finals.

Union -- who was unranked entering the national tournament -- enters the match with Lindsey Wilson winning six matches in a row after rallying from a 1-4 deficit to beat No. 13-ranked Shorter 5-4.

Tuesday's match is the first meeting between the two schools this season. The winner of the match advances into the quarterfinals and will face the winner of No. 5 seed Vanguard (Calif.) University and unseeded Southern Nazarene (Okla.) University.

Defending national champions Auburn University-Montgomery (Ala.) is the tournament's top seed and Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University is the No. 2 seed.

The finals are scheduled for 1 p.m. CDT on Friday, May 18.

On the men's side, Lindsey Wilson (14-5), like the women, fell to Freed-Hardeman -- who is the tournament's fourth-seed -- in the region tournament finals to enter the tournament on a one-match losing streak. Prior to the loss, the Blue Raiders had won five in a row.

Point Loma improved to 15-6 on the season after sweeping Sioux Falls 9-0. Point Loma is the first team that did not receive a seeding and was ranked No. 9 in the final NAIA poll of the season.

The winner advances into the tournament's quarterfinals and faces defending national champion and top-seeded AUM.

Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University is the tournament's No. 2 seed and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University is the third seed.

The tournament's finals are scheduled for 9 a.m. CDT on May 18.
