Seniors Keith Klink and Charlie Pingleton honored prior to dual, Blue Raider capture share of MSC Regular-Season Title

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Sixth ranked Lindsey Wilson College trailed 9-7 four matches into the dual, but went on to win three straight decisions to take control of the dual and beat 14th ranked University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) 22-15 on Tuesday night in Biggers Sports Center.

With the win the Blue Raider clinched a share of the Mid-South Conference Regular-Season Championship, tying Campbellsville (Ky.) with a 3-1 record in league duals. Campbellsville topped Lindsey Wilson this season, but also lost to Cumberlands, setting up the shared conference crown.

Aaron Edington posted the biggest win of the night at 197 pounds, pinning Courtney Freeman in two minutes and 28 seconds to give Lindsey Wilson a comfortable 22-12 lead that sealed the win.

The only other non-decision win for Lindsey Wilson was Keith Klink at 133 pounds with a major decision over Calob Perkins 9-2 which gave the Blue Raiders a brief 4-3 lead after Kary Goff lost a 7-3 decision to the Patriots' Larone Madison to open the dual at 125 pounds.

DaMonte Riley followed Klink's big win with an 8-5 decision against Jared Medina at 141 pounds which gave the Blue Raiders a 7-3 lead.

The advantage quickly disappeared as Isaac Thomas (149) saw a late one-point lead turn into getting pinned by Anthonie Linares in 6:41 to put Cumberlands up 9-7.

Just as sudden as the score turned into the Patriots favor, the Blue Raiders got back on track with three straight decisions to take a 16-9 lead.

Charlie Pingleton was first at 157 pounds, beating Derek Murdock 11-6, then James Haywood sneaked by Zach Barkett 3-2 at 165 pounds and Aaron Back was a 9-6 winner at 174 pounds against Justin Dillinger.

Cumberlands won again at 184 pounds as Jeremy Gardner took advantage of a slow start against Andrew Hairston for a 5-2 win that brought the Patriots within four points.

At that point Edington stepped up with his pin to put Cumberlands away and Teddy Furnish lost in the finale at heavyweight 3-1 to Michael Pezzuto.

The Blue Raiders also recognized Klink and Pingleton prior to the dual with a brief senior-day ceremony as both grapplers wrestled their last match inside Biggers Sports Center. Klink has been with the program since its inception in 2009, while Pingleton transferred into the program this season.

Lindsey Wilson is back on the mat at 9 a.m. CT on Feb. 18 in the NAIA Regional Championships hosted by Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.
