Lindsey Wilson College student-athlete tops plays from Ohio State, UMass and San Diego State in play of the year contest
COLUMBIA, Ky. – Blue Raider Nation made its voices heard, or at least its clicks, as Chase Spreen's game-winning near full-court shot at the buzzer to beat Georgetown (Ky.) has advanced to the finals of the 2012 GEICO College Basketball Play of the Year contest.
The senior from Lindsey Wilson College beat out plays from NCAA Div. I schools Ohio State, Massachusetts and San Diego State.
The shot moves on to the finals where voting against nine other plays starts on Feb. 27 and will last one week. The 2012 GEICO Play of the Year will be announced during the GEICO presents Best of College Basketball show on CBS March 25.
Voting will be the same format as the weekly contest that Spreen just won, utilizing Facebook to collect votes at the contest site here.
Spreen is the week-four finalist, joining previous week's winners Christian Watford from Indiana, week two's Robbie Hummel from Purdue and week-three pick Damen Bell-Holter from Oral Roberts.
You can see Spreen and the rest of the Blue Raiders in action this weekend at 4 p.m. CT against Cumberlands (Ky.) in Biggers Sports Center.
