Blue Raiders' five-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night in Wise, Va.

WISE, Va. -- Facing a University of Virginia's College at Wise defensive attack that allowed a season-low output for No. 8 Lindsey Wilson College, the Blue Raiders lost 58-51 on Thursday night at the Convocation Center.

Lindsey Wilson shot just 34.5 percent from the field and 20.0 percent from behind the arc as Chase Spreen led with 14 points, two below his season average. Wes Hanspard added 12 points and six rebounds as the only other Blue Raider in double figures.

The Cavaliers played just six players the entire night and were led in scoring by Travis Berry with 17 points, while Josh Jordan joined him in double-figures with 12.

It was an ugly first half of basketball for both teams as neither eclipsed 35.0 percent shooting from the field. Making matter worse for Lindsey Wilson was hitting just 1-of-6 3-point attempts and turning the ball over nine times in the half.

The Blue Raiders are the best 3-point shooting team in the Mid-South Conference and third in the entire NAIA but the shot was not falling early, forcing Hanspard to go to work inside for six points.

Lindsey Wilson led 20-10 in the middle of the half before the Cavaliers used a 15-4 run to take a 25-24 lead into halftime.

There were no big leads in the second half as the teams continued to struggle on offense.

After a pair of free throws with eight minutes to play, the Cavaliers had their largest lead of the game to that point at 43-39.

UVa.-Wise continued to control the game, playing lock down man-to-man defense to build a seven-point lead with 4:41 to play.

There was no such thing as an open look at the basket for Lindsey Wilson the rest of the way as it had its five-game winning streak snapped. The Blue Raiders did lead in rebounds 41-35, but turned the ball over 16 times with just seven assists.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky.
