Gregersen dished out three assists in the opening-round win
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Ayaki Shinada scored a pair of goals in the first 20 minutes and Lindsey Wilson College finished with a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal to beat Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College 6-1 on Saturday in the opening round of the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
It was a precision attack by Lindsey Wilson in the first half as Gregersen dished out three assists to help set up the large Blue Raider advantage.
Shinada's first goal in the 11th minute was unassisted, while Gregersen delivered both assists on Shinada's 20th minute strike and Persson's goal one minute later.
Sueki wrapped up the Blue Raiders' first-half scoring in the 29th minute off yet another assist by Gregersen.
Roberts Wesleyan scored its only goal of the game in the 33rd minute as Kuzma found the ball on the ground inside the box after a corner kick by her teammate Ashley Drenth. Kuzma tapped the loose ball past the reach of Lindsey Wilson freshman goalkeeper Esther Dam Simonsen for the score.
The second half had a lot less flare as two Lindsey Wilson goals made up the extent of the action.
In the 49th minute Gregersen finally got to score a goal of her own after the trio of assists off a cross from freshman Laerke Lillelund Michaelsen. The last goal of the game came in the 59th minute as sophomore Elizabet Madjarac played a ball forward to her in the box for the easy finish.
The Blue Raiders outshot the Raiders 10-4 for the game and both teams finished without having to make a save.
Lindsey Wilson advances to the second round of the NAIA Championship at 6:30 p.m. CT on Monday, Nov. 28 to face No. 16 seed Oklahoma City University who advanced on penalty kicks 3-2 over Trinity Christian (Ill.) University at the Jack Allen Receation Complex in Decatur, Ala.
