Andrea Taylor named Player of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College junior Andrea Taylor is the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.
The weekly conference honor is the second this season for the setter from Louisville, Ky.. In addition to being named player of the week, Taylor also earned MSC Setter of the Week honors. She has earned setter of the week six times this season.
Lindsey Wilson's Taylor Hayne and Rachael Anderson also earn weekly conference honors for their play last week. Hayne earns her first MSC Hitter of the Week honor while Anderson earns her second MSC Libero of the Week accolade.
Taylor averaged 11.8 assists per set last week while helping the Blue Raiders to the program's first MSC Tournament championship. Her top match of the week came against UVa.-Wise in the conference tournament's quarterfinal where Taylor produced 51 assists in a 3-1 win.
In the tournament's championship match against Georgetown College, Taylor finished with 45 assist and 15 digs for her seventh double-double of the season.
Taylor concluded the week with 12 kills, 34 digs and four service aces.
This season, Taylor leads the MSC and ranks 11th in the NAIA with a 10.9 assists per set average.
Hayne averaged 3.9 kills per set while hitting .250 in four Lindsey Wilson wins.
The Terre Haute, Ind., freshman outside hitter, tallied 55 kills during the week, including 17 in the title match against Georgetown. Hayne recorded three matches of double-digit kills during the week and amassed nine kills in a win over University of Rio Grande.
She added 11 digs and three solo and three assisted blocks to her totals last week.
This season, Hayne ranks sixth in the conference averaging three kills per set. She ranks seventh in attacking percentage (.277) and eighth in kills (314) in the MSC.
Anderson averaged 7.1 digs per set while finishing the week without a reception error in 126 chances last week.
The Lexington, Ky., senior libero recorded double-digit digs in all four of her matches, including 31 digs in the tournament finals. Anderson concluded the week with 100 digs and five service aces.
Anderson ranks fifth in the Mid-South averaging 4.6 digs per set. She is sixth in the conference with 497 digs this season.
Lindsey Wilson improves to 31-2 overall. The Blue Raiders find out their national tournament opponent on Sunday, Nov. 13.
