COLUMBIA, Ky. -- After a slow start in the first set, the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team came alive in the final two to push past visiting Asbury (Ky.) University 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-15) on Wednesday in the regular-season finale at Biggers Sports Center.

The freshman duo of Kirsten King and Taylor Hayne paced the Blue Raiders on the attack with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Freshman Sarah Anderson added seven kills, while Anderson, senior Kayla Koerber and newcomer Sierra Wilkerson each finished with two blocks.

Defensively senior Rachael Anderson put together a strong performance with 18 digs and junior Andrea Taylor orchestrated the offense with 35 assists.

Lindsey Wilson got a big boost in the match on serve as it led the matches in aces 8-0. Rachael Anderson, Taylor, sophomore Alex Kibsey and junior Angela Mlachnik each hit two aces in the match.

Asbury hit a respectable .238 in the match, but the Blue Raiders were even better, hitting .293 with the help of a .519 mark in the final set.

The Eagles were led by Catherine Wolter with seven kills and Jessie Bartlow with 15 assists, while Kelly Cole led the defense with 19 digs.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 12-8 lead to start the match, but Asbury wasn't ready to go down easily, battling back to tie the set at 13. The score remained close the rest of the way with the Eagles holding a 24-23 lead.

Luckily for Lindsey Wilson the next three points went its way, setting up some momentum to carry it through the rest of the match.

The only challenge in set two came when Asbury fought back to tie the score at 20, but the Blue Raiders responded in a hurry with five of the next six points to pull ahead 2-0 in the match.

Lindsey Wilson saved its best performance for the final set of the sweep, routing the Eagles 25-15 to finish off the regular-season with a 28-2 overall record.

At 10-2 in the Mid-South Conference, Lindsey Wilson enters Saturday's conference championship as the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of No. 8 seed University of Virginia College at Wise and No. 9 seed University of Pikeville (Ky.) at 3 p.m. CT in the Frankfort Civic Center.

A win in the quarterfinals would send Lindsey Wilson to a semifinal match against either fourth seeded University of Rio Grande (Ohio) or No. 5 seed University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at 7 p.m.

Sunday's MSC Championship match has been set for a 2:30 p.m. start after originally being scheduled at 1 p.m.
