COLUMBIA, Ky. -- After a 20-match winning streak, the team to last beat the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team struck again as Campbellsville (Ky.) University ended the run with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) win on Thursday night at Biggers Sports Center.
The Tigers also beat the Blue Raiders in Campbellsville 3-1 on Sept. 6 to deliver Lindsey Wilson its only losses of the season as it currently stands at 27-2 overall and 10-2 in Mid-South Conference play.
In all six set losses against Campbellsville (19-12, 9-2 MSC) the Blue Raiders have at least reached the 20-point mark, including three 25-23 losses.
When compared to the season-long numbers, the Blue Raiders couldn't have played much worse.
As a team Lindsey Wilson hit just a .100 percentage, including a -.050 hitting mark by its kills' leader freshman Kirsten King who finished with 10 kills and 12 errors on the attack.
Freshmen Sarah Anderson and Taylor Hayne were a bright spot for Lindsey Wilson with six kills each and identical .313 hitting percentages, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Tigers' assault from Monica Chernichan and Genevieve Collette.
Chernichan tallied a match-high 12 kills on 23 swings for a .435 mark, while Collette ripped 11 kills on 25 swings for a .360 percentage.
All together Campbellsville hit .274 on the night and held a 10-3 block advantage, all while trying to give a set away with 11 service errors.
Still the Blue Raiders couldn't counter on the errors as junior Andrea Taylor was limited as well, recording her third lowest assist total when playing in at least three sets with 29.
But all is not lost for the Blue Raiders' season as it is still guaranteed at least a share of the MSC Regular-Season Championship with the Tigers. If Georgetown (Ky.) College was to beat Campbellsville on Nov. 1 it would give Lindsey Wilson the outright conference title.
The Blue Raiders are back in action at 6 p.m. CT on Nov. 2 against Asbury (Ky.) College for the regular-season finale in Biggers Sports Center.
