Raffle for gift bag available for $5
COLUMBIA, Ky. -- If you're planning on attending the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team's match against Georgetown (Ky.) College on Thursday at 7 p.m. CT in Biggers Sports Center, you're encouraged to pull out something pink to wear and support a great cause.
The Blue Raiders, in conjunction with the Side-Out Foundation, are taking part in the "Dig Pink" event which generates proceeds that benefit breast cancer medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing compassionate support to breast cancer patients and their families.
Apart from the simple show of support of wearing pink clothing, the team will have a raffle for a gift bag which you can enter for $5 at the game, as well as donation boxes which will go 100 percent towards the Side-Out Foundation.
The game itself is destined to be a good one as Lindsey Wilson welcomes in a Tiger team that it beat earlier in the season. As of today, the Blue Raiders are the top team in the Mid-South Conference with an 8-1 record and .889 winning percentage, but Georgetown is not far behind at 7-2 for a .778 percentage.
In the Nov. 15 win at Georgetown, Lindsey Wilson topped the Tigers 3-1 (25-20, 15-25, 25-22, 25-23) and got big performances from freshmen Taylor Hayne and Kirsten King with 14 kills each.
Georgetown has been hot as of late, winning its last three matches by a 3-0 score. It brings on much of its success with the ability to block, ranking 19th in the NAIA in total blocks with 233.5. The Tigers also rank 46th nationally in total kills with 1,194 and Lindsey Wise ranks 40th in the NAIA in total digs with 444.
The Blue Raiders are holding their own on the national stage, ranking 15th in hitting percentage at .274 and junior setter Andrea Taylor ranks 13th nationally in assists per set 10.8.
