COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Lindsey Wilson College cycling team made its final stop of the regular season at the University of Missouri this past weekend, displaying its dominance by sweeping three of the four gravity races and earning valuable team points leading up to the regional championships.

The first day of racing started with cross-country on a very rocky 4.8-mile loop.

The men's category C race covered two laps, where James Smith took his first win of the season.

In the women's B race, freshman Yessica Mendoza took second, followed by Mikayla Lyman in third. Junior Taylor Ladd was Lindsey Wilson's top men's A finisher, coming in fourth place, followed by Senior Matt Dooley in sixth.

Newcomer Tiana Row impressed with a second-place finish in the women's A race.

Moving on to the downhill course, Lindsey Wilson continued its strong performance.

The men's A downhill ended with sophomore Chase Hines taking second  place by less than a tenth of a second, followed by sophomore Josh Patton in third and senior Brandon Hopkins in fourth.

Madison Pitts, Brooke Crum, Crystal Kalgoris and Brittany Bates took the top four spots in the women's A downhill for a Lindsey Wilson sweep.

"Madison has really turned on the power this year," said Blue Raider head coach David Grigsby. "She has always been strong, but it seems this year all the pieces are really coming together for her."

Pitts kept up the momentum taking the win in the women's A dual slalom the next day. The women's A final came down to a matchup between Kalgoris and Pitts. After tying in the first round, Pitts laid out a fast lap for a win by half a wheel in the second round.

Again the Lindsey Wilson women swept the event with sophomore Stephanie Caluag taking third, Bates taking fourth and Crum taking fifth.

On the men's side, the Blue Raiders swept the top spots with sophomore Daniel Caluag taking home the win, followed by Hines in second and Hopkins coming in for third.

"This was Danny's second year winning on this course, he really put together some great laps for the win, it was a really exciting final between Chase and Danny," said Grigsby.

Lindsey Wilson also had a great showing in the short-track races with Lyman and junior Andrew Wright taking wins in the women's B and men's C races.

"While all the races were excellent, I was really excited to see some of our B and C riders with wins and top finishes," said Grigsby. "They are really enjoying the hard work they have been putting in over the year and rarely get the credit they deserve."

Tiana Row showed her strength riding to a close second-place finish in the women's A short track, followed by Crum in 4th.

Ladd again was Lindsey Wilson's top men's A finisher, coming in third, followed by junior Zach Dorsey in fifth and Mitch Gantz coming in behind him for a seventh-place finish.

Lindsey Wilson now looks to next week, when it heads to Ripon, Wis., on Oct. 15 for the regional championships.

"I think we can come away with a lot of podiums at regionals," said Grigsby. "We have to go race without the one discipline we are usually strongest at, and that's dual slalom. So it will be a challenge to show what we can do without being able to fall back on our strength."
