Volleyball wins 14th straight

PIKEVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team needed just three sets to dismiss host University of Pikeville (Ky.) tonight at UPike Gym.

With the win, the Blue Raiders (21-1, 5-1 in the MSC) claim their 14th straight win and move into a first place tie in the Mid-South Conference West Division with Campbellsville (Ky.) University.

It was another balance attack from the youth of the Blue Raiders -- who won the match 25-9, 25-19, 25-15. Lindsey Wilson has won 12 straight sets following tonight's sweep.

Lindsey Wilson freshmen Sarah Anderson and Kirsten King each finished the match with nine kills while freshman Taylor Hayne added eight kills.

While the freshmen dominated the Blue Raider attack, it was the veterans who set up the trio and provided defense en route to the fifth straight conference win.

Junior Andrea Taylor finished with a match-high 32 assists to compliment the offensive attack as seniors Rachael Anderson and Kayla Koerber led the Blue Raider defense. Anderson ended the match with 14 digs and Koerber led the team with five blocks.

Pikeville sophomore Paige Thacker led the Bears (4-15, 0-7 in the MSC) with seven kills and junior Brooks Parrott added 16 assists.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, October 11, as the Blue Raiders travel to Shawnee State (Ohio) University in Portsmouth, Ohio.
