Blue Raiders six shots back at midway point
McDERMOTT, Ohio -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team is six strokes behind leader University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) following today's Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament opening round at The Elks Country Club.
The Blue Raiders shot a team-total 305 today over the 6,677 yard, par 72 course. Cumberlands leads the tournament following today's 299. Campbellsville University is third with a 308 followed by Georgetown College with a 309.
The fall tournament -- hosted by Shawnee State University -- makes up one-half of the Mid-South Conference's regular season. The second tournament is scheduled for the spring.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Nathan Clark is sixth overall following his opening round 74 (35-39). Senior Nicolas Navarro (36-39) and freshman Nathan Hincks (38-37) fired matching 75s and sit one shot back of Clark. Hincks is playing as an individual for the Blue Raider squad.
Campbellsville's Scott Foster leads the 48-man field with an opening round three-under par 69 (34-35). A trio of Cumberlands players and Georgetown's Marcus Lake occupy the remainder of the top-five.
Lindsey Wilson senior Chris Lewis (37-41) and freshman Grayson Bills (40-38) each carded 78s today to join four other men tied for 18th overall. Junior Daron Morris finished with an 86 (44-42) and is tied for 43rd overall.
The final round is scheduled for 8 a.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 7, at The Elks.
