Blue Raiders earn best-ever finish at track nationals

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Lindsey Wilson College cycling team finished a program-best fifth place at the USA Cycling Track Nationals at the Major Taylor Velodrome.

The Blue Raiders picked up 16 team points towards the national standings with their fifth place finish.

Lindsey Wilson finished the national championship with 576 points over the three-day event. Host Marian (Ind.) University finished atop the podium with 1,004 points followed by Fort Lewis (Col.) College, Midwestern State (Texas) University and Lees-McRae (N.C.) College.

Lindsey Wilson scored in every discipline during the championships while posting six different top-10 finishes.

The Blue Raiders picked up 83 points -- their highest discipline score -- in the women's sprint thanks to a pair of top-10 finishes from Madison Pitts and Yesica Mendoza. Pitts finished the sprints in fourth place while Mendoza ended in ninth.

Brooke Crum finished just outside the top-10 in 11th place in the sprints.

In the men's sprints, Lindsey Wilson's Daniel Caluag earned a top-10 finish crossing the line in eighth place.

David Novak earned a team-best fourth place finish in the men's points race while Mendoza and Crum ended in 11th and 12th place respectively in the women's points race.

Novak added another top-10 finish in the men's 4,000 meters with a ninth place finish while Crum ended up in fifth place in the women's team pursuit.
