Blue Raiders finish fifth at MSCs
RIO GRANDE, Ohio -- Lindsey Wilson College tallied 90 points to finish fifth at the Mid-South Conference Women's Track & Field Championships at the Stockmeister Track and Field Complex on Friday and Saturday in Rio Grande, Ohio.
Shorter (Ga.) College won the team title with 260.5 points, Campbellsville (Ky.) University took second place with 160.5 points and the University of Rio Grande (Ohio) took third with 111 points.
Sophomore Sharon Ronoh won the conference championship in both the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36 minutes and 42.22 seconds and the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:06.71. Her classmate Ruth Olson finished third in the 100-meter hurdles with a school-record time of 15.69 seconds and fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with another school record in 1:06.78.
Junior Maria Sanchez took sixth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.11 and freshman Reagan Deaton took 10th place in 2:31.01.
Ronoh earned a third-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:54.90, while freshman Katie Hartney took fourth place in the discus finals with a throw of 34.26 meters and another fourth-place showing in the hammer with a toss of 33.37 meters.
The Blue Raiders took the top three spots in the 5,000-meter race walk with senior Nicole Furnish leading the way in 25:36.98. Senior Chelsea Conway took second place in 25:42.41 and freshman Reini Brickson finished third in 27:31.63.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on May 6 at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.
