FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College cheerleaders finished fourth on Wednesday at the Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Championships at the Frankfort Convention Center.

Following the competition, seven LWC cheerleaders were recognized by the conference as either all Mid-South Conference or academic all MSC.

Lindsey Wilson junior Heather Gordon earned All Mid-South Conference honors for the second straight season. Freshman Elizabeth Lieske joined Gordon as the two Lindsey Wilson representatives on the 14-person all-conference team. The all-conference team was selected by the MSC coaches.

Gordon, senior Emily Keeton and juniors Korianne Cox and Kayla Johnson and sophomores Dorothy Karcher and Kelsey Whelan earned academic all-conference for maintaining at least a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and being of sophomore or above standing.

University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) captured the MSC team championship. The win is the first-ever conference cheerleading title for the Patriots. Campbellsville (Ky.) University finished second and Pikeville (Ky.) College ended in third in the seven-team competition.

In addition to Gordon and Lieske, Campbellsville's Bethany Gray and Danielle Waldrop; Cumberlands' Chelsea Belt and Corissa Black; Georgetown's Ashton Weis; Pikeville's Leah Harris and Brittany Moore; St. Catharine College's Mandy Gray and Jordan Boyle; and University of Virginia's College at Wise's Kendra Miller and Abby Vidakovic were all selected to the all-conference team.

Cumberlands coach Beth Wooley is the Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year as voted on by her peers and Georgetown's Johnson was named the MSC Cheerleader of the Year as voted on by the coaches and the competition judges.

A total of 32 student-athletes earned academic all-conference.

The cheerleading championship is held each season at the conference's basketball tournaments.
