COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team pegged Mid-Continent (Ky.) University with a 10-5 win in game one and an 11-1 win in six innings in game two to pull off the sweep on Wednesday at Lindsey Wilson Park.
Pitching was the story of the day for the Blue Raiders as Levi Duncan picked up the win in game one, throwing 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts while scattering five hits. Daniel Pulliam earned the complete-game win in game two, throwing 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts while allowing six hits.
Third baseman Max Rhodes was hot at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles for three RBIs and three runs scored. Center fielder Dustin Murphy hit a home run in game one to go with his 2-for-3 performance at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Lindsey Wilson led 4-1 after the first inning in the opener and added five more runs over the third and fourth innings as Duncan kept the Cougars at bay with his solid performance.
Second Baseman Heath Barnes tagged the ball in game two for three RBIs after going 2-for-4, while Rhodes stayed hot, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI, a run and a double.
Lindsey Wilson led just 5-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning where they erupted for six runs to register the mercy-rule win.
The Blue Raiders return to action at noon CT on April 16 at the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
