Joe Hood leads men's golf at the NAIA Classic after first-round play with a four-over par 76.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Joe Hood shot a four-over par 76 (38-38) to lead the Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team to 13th place after the first round of the NAIA Classic at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course on Monday.

The Blue Raiders combined for a team score of 312, 19 strokes behind the leader Johnson and Wales (Fla.) University (293). Lee (Tenn.) University is second with a score of 295, while Grand View (Iowa) University and Malone (Ohio) University are tied for third place (297).

Hood's team-best score of 76 places him in a tie for 29th place individually, while Saint Ambrose (Iowa) University's Dusty Drenth (36-33) and Johnson and Wales' Nathan Leonhardt (35-34) lead the classic after shooting a 69 in the first round.

Trey Wilkerson followed Hood for the Blue Raiders in a tie for 47th place, carding a 78 (42-36), while Antonio Arriola finished tied for third on the team and 53rd overall with a 79 (38-41). Nicolas Navarro also shot a 79 with scores of 39 and 40. Chaz Giles rounded out the Lindsey Wilson golfers in a tie for 73rd place, shooting an 86 (45-41).

Men's golf is back in action on Tuesday, April 13, in the final round of the NAIA Classic.
