LONDON, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men’s and women’s golf teams opened the fall season today at the University of the Cumberlands Fall Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Community.
 
The Blue Raider women sit atop the seven-team leaderboard with a first round team-total of 326. The LWC men are in fourth after round one with a team-total of 299

On the women’s side, Lindsey Wilson sophomore Krista Burton is in second place after a six-over par 79 over the par-73, 6,027-yard Crooked Creek layout.

Lindsey Wilson leads second-place Georgetown (Ky.) College, who shot a team-total of 332, by six strokes. Campbellsville (Ky.) University is third with a 340 and Marion (Ind.) College is fourth with a 342.

Individually, Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Robertson and sophomore Cheslee Elkins are tied for sixth with a first-round nine-over par 82. Junior Aline Decker is tied for ninth with an 83, while freshman Chelsey Key is tied for 11th with an 85.

Union (Ky.) College’s Dudley McKenna leads the tournament after a five-over par 78. Marion’s Angela Gauck is third with an 80 and Georgetown’s Tiffany Samborsky and Campbellsville’s Kaela Smith is tied for fourth with an 81.

On the men’s side, Lindsey Wilson junior Carlos Navarro is tied atop the leaderboard with a two-under par 70 over the par-72, 6,953-yards.

As a team, Lindsey Wilson trails first place Campbellsville and Lee (Tenn.) University -- who are tied with a team-total of 291 -- by eight shots after the opening round. Southern Wesleyan (So.Car.) is third with a 295.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Travis Radford and freshman Joe Hood are tied for 20th after an opening round four-over par 76. Junior Abraham Gali is 26th with a 77 and freshman Ross Crowe is tied for 42nd after an 80.

Campbellsville’s Scott Webb and Southern Wesleyan’s Chris Newton are tied with Navarro for first heading into tomorrow’s final round.

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. CT on Friday at Crooked Creek.
