Baseball lost a pair of close games on opening day at Union University on Saturday.

JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team lost of pair of close games in the season opening doubleheader at Union (Tenn.) University on Saturday. The Blue Raiders lost the opener 5-4 and dropped the final game 3-0.

Trailing 4-1 in the top of the sixth inning, the Blue Raiders brought across three runs to tie the game. Union, however, scored the go-ahead run in the bottom half of the inning and held Lindsey Wilson scoreless in the seventh to seal the win in game one.

Game two was a pitchers' duel, as Max Rhodes took the mound for Lindsey Wilson and threw five innings of shutout baseball with three strikeouts.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, Josh Jones belted a three-run homerun off of Cody Wales to win game two against Lindsey Wilson 3-0.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Feb. 19 against Spring Arbor University in a home doubleheader.
