GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Everything seemed to bounce in the right direction for Georgetown (Ky.) College on Monday as it beat the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team 75-57 after outrebounding the Blue Raiders 39-17, including an 18-4 advantage on the offensive glass.
The Blue Raiders second leading scorer and third leading rebounder, Sierra Rambert, was limited to just four minutes of action after suffering an injury to her thigh. The senior was sent to the sidelines for good with no points but three assists.
Viktoria Krell and Lindsey Waters led Lindsey Wilson with 12 points each, while Bethany Spillman added 11 points, including her first career three-point basket.
Mikkah Rogers paced Georgetown with 17 points, while Gina Beining added 14.
After a closely contested first ten minutes, the Tigers eventually pulled ahead by five points (25-20). Then over the next five minutes Georgetown went on a 9-1 run to build a 34-21 lead.
With Rambert out for the game and Krell limited with two early fouls, the Blue Raiders were lucky to climb back within six points at halftime (42-34) after Sabrina Manning knocked down the second of her three 3-pointers as time expired in the first half.
Coming out of halftime, Waters knocked down a jumper that brought the Blue Raiders within four points, but it was as close as they would come to Georgetown (13-8, 4-2 MSC) for the game. Georgetown went on another run, this time a 10-3 effort, to put away Lindsey Wilson (12-8, 2-4 MSC).
The Blue Raiders and Tigers finished the game shooting an identical 50 percent from the field, while Lindsey Wilson shot 31.3 percent from three, compared to a 27.8 percent clip for Georgetown.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 4 against St. Catharine (Ky.) College at Biggers Sports Center.
