COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team received 36 voting points to take the No. 3 spot in Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released by the conference office on Wednesday.
Campbellsville (Ky.) University and Georgetown (Ky.) College shared top billing in the poll with 46 points each and split the first-place votes with four each.
Lindsey Wilson finished 26-19 last season and 14-10 in conference play. Last season's top hitter Jamie Williams (.435 batting average, four home runs) returns to lead the offense.
The Blue Raider circle will be occupied by newcomer pitchers Anyibell Ramirez and Morgan Paschall. The pair of transfers adds an experienced 1-2 punch for Lindsey Wilson.
Lindsey Wilson will be playing its first full season at its new ball park adjacent to the Louie B. Nunn Parkway. The Blue Raiders first chance to play an official game in the new stadium will be the season opener as Indiana University Southeast comes to Columbia at 3 p.m. CT on Feb. 25.
St. Catharine (Ky.) College (27 points) and University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) (23) are fourth and fifth, respectively.
Conference newcomer University of Rio Grande (Ohio) (21), Pikeville (Ky.) College (18) and West Virginia University Institute of Technology (7) complete the preseason poll.
