Max Rhodes and the Blue Raider baseball team were picked to finish sixth in the MSC Preseason Poll.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team was picked to finish sixth in the Mid-South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Tuesday by the conference office.

Lindsey Wilson received 19 voting points in the poll, while Campbellsville (Ky.) University is the preseason favorite with 46 points and five of the eight first-place votes from the league coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The other three first-place votes went to University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) predicted to finish second with 43 points, while Georgetown (Ky.) College rounded out the top three with 35 points.

Lindsey Wilson finished with a 15-26 record last year, including a 7-14 mark in conference play. The Blue Raiders' season ended with a 9-2 loss to West Virginia Tech in the opening round of the MSC Tournament in Georgetown, Ky.

Senior Max Rhodes returns as the Blue Raiders' leading hitter. Rhodes built a .380 batting average with 54 hits, 32 RBI and three home runs. Senior Luis Parra will head the charge from the mound after posting a 5-3 record in 16 appearances last season. Parra struck out 33 batters and allowed just three home runs.

The Blue Raiders are scheduled to play 38 of their 57 games at their new home adjacent to the Louie B. Nunn Parkway. Lindsey Wilson played an abbreviated schedule at the new park last season.

Lindsey Wilson opens its season on Friday, Feb. 12, as the Blue Raiders travel to Union (Tenn.) University in Jackson, Tenn. The Blue Raiders open their home schedule on Friday, Feb. 19 as they host Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in a doubleheader.

First pitch for game one is set for 1 p.m. CT.
