Freshman Steven Rink recorded a first-round pin to help wrestling to a 29-13 dual-match win against King College.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College wrestling team made history on Tuesday night, winning the first-year program's first dual match 29-13 over King (Tenn.) College at Biggers Sports Center.

Junior Keith Klink improved to 2-0 on the season in dual competition with a pin in the first match of the night at 125 pounds. The 11th ranked Arcadia, Wis., native recorded the fall against Jacob Holley with 1.4 seconds remaining in the first round. Klink led the match 2-0 after recording a near fall before the pin.

With the Blue Raiders trailing 7-6 after taking losses as 133 and 141 pounds, freshman Jacob Shirley turned the momentum back in Lindsey Wilson's favor with a 4-0 decision against Richard Pugh at 149 pounds.

The Blue Raiders (1-1) received four team points with the win to regain the lead 10-7 and never trailed again.

Junior Drew McElrath added three points to the lead (13-7) with a 7-5 win against John Cox at 157 pounds. Cox threatened to steal the win in the third period with a pair of takedowns, but McElrath registered three straight escapes to seal the win.

Leading by just three points (13-10) after a loss at 165 pounds, the Blue Raiders received a six-point boost with a first-round pin by newcomer Steven Rink at 174 pounds. With 24.4 seconds on the clock, Rink tallied the fall against King's Josh Richardson.

Blue Raider freshman Jacob Ilg controlled his 197-pound match against Brandon Smith by just two points (4-2) heading into the third period. Smith registered four escapes in the deciding period, however, Ilg responded with five straight takedowns to take the 14-6 decision.

Heavyweight Zach Marshall won by forfeit to close the dual and give the Blue Raiders their final 29-13 advantage against the Tornado.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Ohio Northern Invite in Ada, Ohio.
