COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College's incoming softball class continues to improve with the addition of an experienced transfer, Blue Raider coach Ashley McCool announced on Monday.
Anyibell Ramirez, a junior-college transfer from Southeastern (Iowa) Community College and member of the Venezuelan National Team, will join McCool and the Blue Raiders for the 2010 season.
"Anyibell is an unbelievable addition to our 2010 squad," said McCool. "She brings a lot of experience and maturity with her two years of play in Iowa and being part of the Venezuelan National Team."
Ramirez helped Southeastern Community to an 18-14 record in 2009, while leading the Blackhawks in wins, ERA and strikeouts. She also produced a .346 batting average with 27 runs and 24 RBI.
On the mound, Ramirez finished 2009 with an 18-8 record and 2.33 ERA while leading her team to the NJCAA National Tournament. She struck out 192 batters in 153 innings of work.
The Barinas, Venezuela native joined her national team last summer in the Canada Cup and Pan American Games.
"I could not have asked for a better young lady on the field and in the classroom," admitted McCool. "She will help this team tremendously in all aspects of the game."
Ramirez is the fifth addition to this season's class since McCool was named head coach in June.
