GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team's season ended today with a 9-2 loss to West Virginia University Tech at the Mid-South Conference Baseball Tournament at Robert N. Wilson Field.
The fifth-seeded Blue Raiders (15-26) scored the game's first two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-0 lead. But the Golden Bears stormed back with nine unanswered runs en route to the 9-2 win.
West Virginia Tech advances to play top-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) University on Sunday.
West Virginia Tech pitcher Pete Vadenbout shut down the Blue Raider bats in a complete-game win. Vadenbout allowed both runs on four hits while striking out five Lindsey Wilson hitters.
Lindsey Wilson senior Kelly Maynard finished the game 1-for-2 from the plate with a walk and a RBI. Junior Justin Tucker and senior Daniel Eck scored the two Lindsey Wilson runs.
Four Golden Bears recorded three hits each as Tech pounded out 14 hits for the game. First baseman Jonathon Rodriquez, catcher Gerardo Hernandez, shortstop Willie Bays and centerfielder Jose Santiago produced three hits each, five runs and four RBIs at the plate.
