Lindsey Wilson signed Meade County native Sara Gillis to an NAIA Scholarship on Wednesday.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team has signed Sara Gillis to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Thursday.

Gillis, a Nelson County native, will primarily play point guard for the Blue Raiders in the 2009-10 season.

"We're very excited about Sara's addition to our program," Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John B. Wethington said. "She's a very hard worker that likes to distribute the basketball. She is a hard nose competitor and a leader on the floor."

The incoming freshman is very excited with her choice of Lindsey Wilson.

"I really enjoyed my campus visit, the campus is beautiful and I am excited to help take this program to the next level," said Gillis. "I thrive on distributing the basketball and Lindsey Wilson has great post players so it was an easy decision for me."

Gillis plans on majoring in Business Administration with a focus in accounting when she arrives on campus in the fall.

Lindsey Wilson finished 25-9 last season advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament before losing to top-ranked Union (Tenn.) University.
