COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore center Viktoria Krell has been named an NAIA Division I Second Team All-American by the All-America committee.

The Ludwigsburg, Germany, native, finished the year averaging 17.5 points per game and pulling down 10.5 rebounds.

"Viktoria had a tremendous season," Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John Wethington said. "Our team's success runs through her. The hard work she has put in this season has paid off and she definitely deserves this honor."

Krell broke the program's single-season rebounding record by grabbing 356 rebounds this year. She also entered the top 10 in four other single-season categories. Her 595 points and 236 field goals made this season ranks third all-time. Krell also finished third with 123 free throws made and ninth with 63 steals.

"I am very excited to achieve this honor. I want to thank my teammates because without them none of this would be possible," said Krell. "I made it a goal this past offseason to be named an All-American and it always feels great to reach a goal."

Krell finished eighth in the nation in total points (595), fourth in total rebounding (356) and first in double-doubles (19).

The sophomore is also climbing the all-time record charts at Lindsey Wilson. Krell is ranked ninth all-time in free throws made (200) and eighth all-time in field goals made (404). She also is eighth all-time with 988 points and sixth all-time with 622 total rebounds.

"Coach (Wethington) pushed me all season to get better and taught me never to be satisfied. I took that to heart and tried to come out and play better each and every game no matter what the result of the previous game was," said Krell.

In addition to her All-American honor, Krell was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Week three times this season and the NAIA National Player of the Week once. She was also named the MSC Player of the Year.

Krell led Lindsey Wilson to its second straight 20 plus win season and its second straight appearance in the sweet 16 of the NAIA Tournament.

According to Krell she has a new set of goals to achieve.

"Next year I want to make the first team (All-American) and reach the final four of the NAIA Tournament."

In addition to Krell, junior guard Sierra Rambert was named to the honorable mention team. Rambert was second on the team averaging 16.3 points per game, second in assists (89), third in total rebounds (109) and fourth in steals (51).
