JACKSON, Tenn. -- Coming off their second straight opening round win at the NAIA National Tournament, the Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team's reward is a date with No. 1-ranked Union (Tenn.) University tonight at Oman Arena.
The fifth-seeded Blue Raiders upset fourth-seeded Westmont (Calif.) College 63-51 to earn a 6:15 p.m. CT match-up with the three-time national champions.
Union enters the game 33-1 on the season and winners of 20 straight. The Bulldogs lone loss came on Dec. 13, 2008 at Lee (Tenn.) University.
The Bulldogs lead the nation in six statistical categories, including scoring average (94.6 points per game), scoring margin (+ 37.5), field goal percentage (54.0) and rebounding margin (+ 13.8).
The game features two of the better post players in the NAIA in Lindsey Wilson sophomore Viktoria Krell and Union senior Josephine Owino.
Krell enters averaging 17.7 points per game and 10.7 rebounds -- both ranks in the top-15 in the NAIA. She leads the nation with 19 double-doubles this season. Owino averages 19.4 points and eight rebounds per game. She leads the nation in field goal percentage making 65.8 percent of her shots.
Tip-off is set for 6:15 p.m. CT and can be heard on 93.5 WAIN-FM beginning at 5:45 p.m. CT with the pregame show.
