COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Rising junior Krista Burton's quest for her second State Am ended today with a 5&4 match play loss to Kentucky signee Ashlee Rose in the quarterfinals of the 82nd Women's Kentucky State Amateur Championship at Elizabethtown Country Club in Elizabethtown.

Rose jumped out to a 3-up lead after the first four holes with a conceited eagle, a birdie and a pair of pars. Burton cut the lead to 2-up on No. 5 with a conceited par, but Rose rebounded to win No. 6 after making a 25-foot birdied putt.

The pair halved the next four holes.

Burton won No. 11 to cut the deficit to 2-down with a 15-foot putt for birdie. But Rose won the next two holes with pars to close out the match and advance to Thursday afternoon's semifinals.
