Bethany Spillman (sitting, middle) signs with Lindsey Wilson women's basketball.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team has signed Bethany Spillman to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Friday.

Spillman joins the Blue Raiders after playing her freshman season at Lee (Tenn.) University in Cleveland, Tenn. The 6-foot forward played at Barren County High School prior to signing with Lee.

The rising sophomore averaged 11.4 points and 9.2 rebounds during her senior season at Barren County. She helped the Trojanettes to a 26-6 record and a quarterfinal appearance in the 2007 KHSAA Sweet Sixteen.

"We're very excited about Bethany's addition to our program," Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John B. Wethington said. "She's a very hard worker that likes to bang inside. We're confident she has all the attributes to be a terrific collegiate basketball player and we expect her to contribute immediately."

Spillman is a three-time all-district performer and twice named to the all-region team.

At Lee, Spillman averaged 0.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 20 games. Lee finished the season 32-3 last season, falling in the NAIA National Tournament's second round.

Lindsey Wilson finished 22-12 last season winning its second straight Mid-South Conference regular season championship.
