SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team struggled in late afternoon winds to fire a 331 and fall to seventh place in the NAIA National Championships at Lake San Marcos Country Club.
The Blue Raiders dropped five spots from second after round one and currently have a team-total of 647 (316-331) on the 5,961 yard par 72 course.
University of British Columbia leads the tournament at the midway point with a two-day total of 630 (318-312). Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University (320-313) and three-time defending national champions Oklahoma City University (318-315) is tied for second with two round totals of 633.
First round leader and host California State University San Marcos is fourth with a 637 (311-326) and Bethel (Ind.) College is fifth with a 643 (327-316).
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Jessica Smith leads the Blue Raiders with a two-round total of 157 (75-82). The Louisville native is tied for 12th at the halfway point.
Sophomore Krista Burton is tied for 27th with a 160 (75-85) and senior Beth Cooper is tied for 35th with a 162 (81-81). Senior Jessica Robertson's 168 (85-83) and junior Aline Decker's 184 (94-90) rounds out the Blue Raider quintet.
Embry-Riddle's Tara Allen leads the tournament with a 150 (76-74).
Lindsey Wilson begins its third round at 2:40 p.m. CT on Thursday at Lake San Marcos.
