BEDFORD, Ind. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's basketball team has signed Chase Spreen to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Thursday.
Spreen led his Bedford North Lawrence team and was 17th in the state in scoring last season averaging 21.9 points per game.
The 6-foot-5 guard also averaged 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game while helping the Stars to an 8-13 record in 2007-08.
"Chase is an outstanding individual, both on and off the court," Lindsey Wilson men's basketball coach Paul Peck said. "He led Bedford North Lawrence in almost every statistical category while competing against some of the top high school programs in the state of Indiana."
Spreen earned first team all-conference honors and was selected All-State Honorable Mention. He was also selected to compete in the Indiana All-Star game.
During his senior season, Spreen converted nearly 47 percent (167-of-356) of his shots, including 33.3 percent (37-of-11) from beyond the three-point arc. He scored double figures in all but one game last season, including a season-high 34 points against Scottsburg High.
"Chase handles the ball very well for someone his size which enables him to efficiently attack the basket," Peck said. "He has an incredible work ethic and he is already physical enough to handle the physical play in the Mid-South Conference.
"Blue Raider fans will love seeing him play for the next four years."
Spreen is the fifth signee for the Blue Raiders this spring. He joins Adair County native Kalen Kimberland, Barren County's Lee Hubbard, Lincoln County's Ryan Young and Kenosha, Wis., native Paki Brown.
