Danny Estevez signs with Lindsey Wilson cycling.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College cycling team has signed Danny Estevez to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Friday.

The Worchester, Mass., native, will participate in road racing while at Lindsey Wilson. Estevez was the Dominican National Road Race Champion four consecutive years from 1999-2002. Estevez will join the Blue Raider program for the 2008-09 school year.

"Danny has made a name for himself across the United States as not only a world class sprinter, but also a climber, which is a rare combination in road racing," Lindsey Wilson cycling coach David Grigsby said. "He has raced in Europe as well as putting in dominant performances in some of our country's most prestigious road races such as Green Mountain and the Tour De Toona."

In addition to this accomplishment, Estevez was the New England Regional Champion from 2005-2007, the Fitchburg Stage Race Champion from 2006-2007 and won the King of the Mountains Champion at the Green Mountain stage race.

"As a member of the venerable Hot Tubes racing team, this young man brings a wealth of talent and experience to Lindsey Wilson," Grigsby said. "Danny will definitely be one of the strongest road racers in all of collegiate cycling."

Lindsey Wilson Cycling returns to action May 9-11 as they participate in the USA Cycling Road Nationals in Fort Collins, Colo.
