BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team leads after the NAIA Region XI Tournament's first round played today at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

The Blue Raiders shot an opening round 331 over the 5,826-yard, par 72 Maywood course. Georgetown (Ky.) College is second following a 347 and host Campbellsville (Ky.) University is third with a 348.

Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University (378), Bethel (Tenn.) College (390), University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) (399) and Lyon (Ark.) College (415) round out the seven team field.

Gusty winds -- in excess of 35 mph -- and high rough produced inflated scores.

Lindsey Wilson senior Beth Cooper (38-42) and sophomore Jessica Smith (35-45) are tied atop the 39-woman field following eight over par 80s.

Georgetown's Jessica Collins is third with an 82 (38-44) and Campbellsville's Cheris Evans is fourth with an 83 (41-42). Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Robertson (42-43), junior Aline Decker (40-45) and Georgetown's April Hayden (42-43) are tied for fifth following 85s.

Lindsey Wilson sophomores Krista Burton (43-43) and Cheslee Elkins (43-43), freshman Chelsey Key (40-46) and Campbellsville's Kaela Smith (43-43) are tied for eighth to round out the top 10.

The final round is scheduled for Friday at Maywood.
