WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's track and field team finished third on Saturday at the Mid-South Conference Championships hosted by the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).
The Blue Raiders scored 111 team points in the six team event. Host Cumberlands won the championships with 214 team points. Shorter (Ga.) College claimed second with 208.
Lindsey Wilson senior Amber Cannon led the Blue Raiders with 27 individual points spanning over five events.
The Bowling Green, Ky., native, broke her own program record in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.36 seconds. Cannon's time earned her a second place finish and the team eight points.
Cannon also added a pair of third place finishes in the long and triple jumps. The two finishes earned the team 12 additional points.
Sophomore Cassie Niersel recorded 24 points for the Blue Raiders with a pair of second places and a third over four events.
The Harbor Springs, Mich., native, grabbed second place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (13:14.72) and the javelin throw (22.57m) and third in the 10,000m run (44:52.95).
