Russell Springs, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College signed Ibby Phelps to a NAIA women's golf scholarship, the school announced on Friday.
Phelps helped lead Russell County High School to the state tournament following its runner-up finish in the 2007 8th Regional tournament in October.
"We are very excited about Ibby's addition to our program." Lindsey Wilson women's golf coach Chris Wells said. "She is another outstanding student-athlete from a tradition-rich program that continues to produce one talented golfer after another."
The Jamestown, Ky., native, will join the Blue Raiders in the 2008-09 school year.
"The best feature about Lindsey Wilson is the people. They are all incredibly nice and friendly" Phelps said. "I'm excited to earn my degree and play golf. I'm looking forward to all the opportunities ahead of me at Lindsey Wilson."
Phelps helped the Lakers to a 10th place finish at last season's state tournament.
"Her passion for the game of golf along with her work ethic will enable her to have a very successful career at Lindsey Wilson," Wells said. "She will be a great asset to our program."
The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team is the 2008 Mid-South Conference regular champion and is currently ranked No. 8 in the NAIA.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on May 1-2 as they compete in the NAIA Region XI Tournament held at Maywood Golf Course in Bardstown, Ky.
