Logan Collis (second from right) signed with the Lindsey Wilson cycling program for the 2008-09 season.

Mount Juliet, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson College has signed Login Collins to a cycling scholarship, the school announced on Wednesday.

Collins, a Mt. Juliet, Tenn., native, will join the Blue Raider program for the 2008-09 school year.

Collins -- who will be participating in the disciplines of dual slalom and downhill while at Lindsey Wilson -- placed third at the BMX World Championships in Canada a year ago. He will compete again this summer at the world championships in China as a member of the United States team.

"Its not every day that you bring a bona fide candidate for a World and Olympic title into your program, but today was one of those days," Lindsey Wilson cycling coach David Grigsby said. "Logan will make an immediate impact as part of our downhill and dual slalom team, joining his friend and current World Champion Weston Pope.

"He is also a tremendous student and one of the nicest and most cordial young men you can meet," Grigsby said. "He really is the total package in a student-athlete and we are honored to bring him into our program."

Collins also finished second in the 2008 American Bicycle Association Super Nationals held in Desoto, Texas a month ago.

"I really like the small campus and friendly atmosphere at Lindsey Wilson," Collins said. "Attending Lindsey Wilson will provide a great opportunity for me to further my education and further my dream of racing."

Collins will be traveling to Taiyuan, China to participate in the 2008 BMX World Championships held May 28-June 2.

The Lindsey Wilson Cycling team returns to action April 19 as they participate in the Midwest Collegiate Cycling Conference regional championships in Milwaukee, Wis.
