OWENSBORO, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team leads after today's first round of the Brescia (Ky.) University Spring Invitational at Ben Hawes State Park.
Lindsey Wilson shot a team-total of 321 -- in frigid temperatures with sporadic rain and show showers -- over the 5,906 yard, par 72 layout.
Campbellsville (Ky.) University sits in second place after a 345 in round one. Bellarmine (Ky.) University is third with a 347.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Krista Burton leads the tournament at the midway point with a five-over par 77. Bellarmine Sarah Duplessis is second following a 78.
Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Robertson and sophomore Jessica Smith are tied for third following their 81's. Sophomore Cheslee Elkins is fifth with an 82 and senior Beth Cooper is tied for seventh with an 84.
Junior Aline Decker and freshman Chelsey Key -- playing as individuals -- are tied for 10th following their first round 86's.
The tournament concludes on Monday with the second round beginning at 9 a.m. CT at Ben Hawes.
