COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team swept visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College today at Raider Field.
Lindsey Wilson College freshman pitcher Jeremy Greene hurled a complete game shutout as the Blue Raiders (15-18, 5-8 in the Mid-South Conference) won today's opener 1-0.
The Winchester, Ky., native, allowed just three hits en route to his fourth win of the season. Greene (4-3) struck out three Tigers (23-13, 10-4 MSC) while issuing a pair of walks.
Lindsey Wilson junior first baseman Daniel Eck's two-out double in the fourth inning proved to be the only run the Blue Raiders would need in the win.
Georgetown's K.C. Massie suffered the hard-luck loss as he matched Greene's complete game three-hitter.
In the nightcap, Eck's final swing of the day produced a two-run walk-off home run as the Blue Raiders swept the doubleheader with a 5-4 win.
The Blue Raiders scattered 13 hits in game two led by Eck and senior second baseman Ace Adcock with three hits each.
Georgetown opened the game with a run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Tiger first baseman Josh Franklin's bases loaded walk drove in the game's first run.
Lindsey Wilson freshman starter Jose Castro -- despite giving up two hits and two walks -- escaped the opening inning allowing just one run.
The Blue Raiders quickly countered with two runs in their half of the first inning to grab a 2-1 lead.
Lindsey Wilson senior catcher Mark Jurczynski and freshman Joseph Willis each drove in a run to give the Blue Raiders the lead. Willis finished with a pair of hits and a run in game two.
The two teams traded runs in the third and fourth innings.
Georgetown leftfielder Eric Severson's solo home run in the third tied the game at 2-2. The Blue Raiders regained the lead at 3-2 on an error by Georgetown reliever Carson Jones.
The Tigers used the long ball again in the top of the fifth as first baseman Jason Frilling hit a two-run shot off Lindsey Wilson senior reliever Bud Loper to take a 4-3 lead.
Two innings later, Eck ended the game in dramatic fashion with his team-leading sixth home run of the season.
Georgetown reliever Pete Thackston retired the first two Lindsey Wilson hitters. Willis reached after being hit and Eck hit the third pitch he saw over the fence.
Loper (2-0) allowed one run on two hits in three innings of work. Castro finished allowing three runs on five hits in four-plus innings.
Thackston suffered the loss allowing two runs on one hits in 2/3 innings of work.
