BARDSTOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women’s golf team leads after today’s opening round of the Campbellsville (Ky.) University Spring Invitational played at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.
The No. 5-ranked Blue Raiders shot an opening round team total of 336 in heavy rains early in the round and strong wind late. Host and No. 24-ranked Campbellsville is second after a 356, while No. 21-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College is third following a 360 in the six-team field.
Lindsey Wilson senior Beth Cooper leads the tournament after a seven-over par 79. The Russell Springs, Ky., native, enjoys a five-stroke lead over senior teammate Jessica Robertson and Georgetown’s Tiffany Samborsky, who each carded an 84.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Cheslee Elkins is tied for fourth with an opening round 85 and sophomore Krista Burton and freshman Chelsey Key are tied for seventh following 88’s.
The final round is scheduled for 8 a.m. CT on Friday at Maywood.
