Castanon earns the first MSC Player of the Week this season in women's tennis.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College senior Candela Castanon has been named Mid-South Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to conference.

Castanon dropped just three games in two singles and two doubles matches this week.

The Sante Fe, Argentina, native, helped the Blue Raiders to a 9-0 sweep of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on March 10.

Castanon defeated Martin Methodist’s Jenny Herring 6-2, 6-1 in No. 1 singles. Castanon teamed with sophomore Jessica Weyreuter to win 8-0 in No. 1 doubles.

Against University of the Cumberlands (Ky.), Castanon defeated the Lady Patriots’ Mary Ngiam 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 singles and won No. 1 doubles with Weyreuter 8-0.

The MSC award is Castanon’s first of the season and fourth of her career.

Castanon is undefeated in both singles and doubles this season.

The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women are 5-0 on the season.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 3 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 26, as Lindsey Wilson travels to No. 1-ranked Auburn (Ala.) University-Montgomery.
