LEITCHFIELD, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College has signed Alicia Mattingly to NAIA women's cross country and track & field scholarships, the school announced on Monday.

Mattingly, a Leitchfield, Ky., native, will join the Blue Raider programs for the 2008-09 school year.

“Alicia is one of those athletes you know will contribute to the team both academically and athletically,” Lindsey Wilson cross country and track & field coach Edwin Hagans said. “She works incredibly hard and I anticipate that she will contribute right away to both programs.”

Mattingly finished 114th out of 205 harriers at the 2007 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Class 3A State Cross Country Meet held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington last November.

Mattingly finished the 5,000 meter course with a time of 21 minutes 11.83 seconds.

“I’m really excited to attend and compete at Lindsey Wilson,” Mattingly said. “I hope to improve on a daily basis as a runner working with Coach Hagans.”

The Lindsey Wilson College cross country team captured their second straight Mid-South Conference championship in the fall and finished second in the NAIA Region XI championships just missing qualifying for the NAIA National Championships.
