COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson softball falls one spot to No. 10 in the final NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Wednesday.
Lindsey Wilson (45-9) fell to No. 10 after going 2-2 in the Mid-South Conference Tournament and is tied with William Carey (Miss.) after receiving 390 total points.
Concordia (Calif.) remains the No. 1 team in the poll receiving all 20 first-place votes and 560 total points. Louisiana State University – Alexandria moved up one spot to No. 2 with 534 points while Auburn (Ala.) Montgomery dropped to No. 3 with 522 points.
Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and California State – San Marcos stayed at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively.
New to the poll this week are South Carolina – Beaufort and Kansas Wesleyan. USC-Beaufort received votes last week and enter the poll this week at No. 24 while Kansas Wesleyan entered at No. 25.
Lindsey Wilson is the only MSC team ranked in the top-25. MSC Tournament champion Georgetown (Ky.) received 15 votes in the final poll.
Lindsey Wilson now has to wait and see who they will play in the 2014 NAIA National Championship Opening Round at the Lindsey Wilson Sports Park starting on May 12. The announcement is going to be made on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. CT.
