KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team received an opening-round bye in the NAIA National Championship tournament, officials announced on Monday.
No. 10 Lindsey Wilson (33-3) advances straight to pool play beginning on Dec. 3 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Blue Raiders finished as one of the top 11 teams in the final NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Poll to earn the opening-round bye, along with host school Briar Cliff (Iowa) University.
Lindsey Wilson finished a perfect 18-0 in regular season Mid-South Conference play en route to the regular-season conference title.
Lindsey Wilson swept Cumberland (Tenn.) University and St. Catharine (Ky.) College in the Mid-South Tournament before falling to Georgetown (Ky.) College in five sets in the championship match.
Georgetown is the only other member of the Mid-South Conference to qualify for the tournament. The Tigers will host Lourdes (Ohio) University on Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. CT.
The opening round of the NAIA National Tournament takes place on Nov. 23 at the host campus sites. The schedule for pool play will be announced on Nov. 24.
